Welcome to Tierra del Sol!
We are a bioregional learning center and permaculture farm located in the heart of the Oaxaca Valley, 20 kms east of the historic city of Oaxaca. Our mission is to restore the health of our local ecosystem and the health of the people, using ancient and modern sustainable techniques, while sharing with others what we have learned so far. Our living systems and facilities are a product of 20 years observing and carefully choosing the most regenerative methods to farm and build. Come share with us this beautiful land and experience a way to sustainably live in cooperation with nature, while regenerating yourself.
Hotelito
Hotelito is a 3 bedroom natural building of adobe, bamboo, and clay plasters, located in front of the medicinal forest. It has a large shared kitchen and eating area. All 3 rooms in this compound have shared showers and compost toilets.

Huizache y Mezquite
These two rooms have two single beds, a large window that allows natural light to enter, an excellent ventilation. Located on the ground floor, they offer a cool and comfortable environment. The bathroom and shower are shared an located outside.
The three rooms share a kitchen and dining room, providing a common space for preparing and enjoying meals.

Cielo
Cielo is the second story room up a spiral staircase. Our most picturesque room with a lovely expansive view of the valley and mountains that features a large porch with hammock and downstairs private bathroom and shower. Cielito is our most complete and private room to relax and enjoy. Please note that the shared compost toilet is about 50 feet, downstairs from the room.
Located on the top floor, this room offers stunning panoramic views, it features a terrace with a hammock for relaxing, as an outdoor bathroom and private shower convenience.

Dainzu and Yagul

A beautifully constructed cathedral arched bamboo dorm using clay and straw walls, with natural finish plasters. These two separate shared rooms feature 4 single beds ( also available in a private king-size bed configuration), interior showers, sinks, and dry composting toilets. Spacious and comfortable, they are perfect for those wanting an interior bathroom while not needing full privacy..

Share Rooms with four single beds each, designed for comfortable rest. They feature two sinks and a sky-view shower, perfect for enjoying a soak in natural light.

Capullos

Made of bamboo, palm, straw, clay, and natural plaster. These little cabins are ideal for those wanting the privacy of sleeping alone without needing the luxury of a bathroom inside. Consisting of a double bed, these adorable little cabins are the simplest and most affordable housing we offer. The solar outdoor shower, and nearby composting toilet are shared.

Located opposite the syntropical orchards, these cozy, bio-construction cabins are the ideal space for those seeking tranquility, inspiration, and connection with a regenerative environment. Equipped with a comfortable double bed, they offer harmonious environment for relaxation.

Agave and Milpa
Made of bamboo, clay, straw and natural plaster, Agave is another one of our most complete and private rooms we offer. Featuring a double bed, furniture, shower, and compost toilet this adorable little cabin is the perfect fit for a couple.

The Milpas is almost identical to the Agave only it comes with three single beds and less furniture. A perfect fit for a small group, or an all woman’s dorm. The shower and bathroom are outside.

CAMPUS
Cocina del ciruelo

Outdoor cooking that harmonizes with nature and offers on open dining experience. It is equipped with a work bar, storage shelves and a functional distribution that facilitates the collective preparation of food.
A central tree provides shade and freshness, integrating the design of the agro-ecological village to encourage coexistence and learning about healthy and sustainable food.

A beautiful open dinning and meeting place for everyone to share and enjoy. This is the heart of the property in which we join together in eating beautifully prepared meals by our very own “Abuelita” Dona Pina. Of highest nutrients, freshness, cleanliness, and mostly all grown on the land, this food was prepared with love and intention. The food is rich and nourishing using some of Oaxaca’s most loved recipes like mole, tamales, soups, salads etc. Please note that meat is served here and if you require special meals remember to let us know when purchasing your meal plan- we are happy to accommodate.

Gaia
Beautifully built Gaia, made of bamboo, and palm, is the main indoor teaching hall where we may sometimes gather for powerpoint, slideshows, and discussions requiring shelter. Entirely carpeted it is also a perfect place to unwind, relax, and stretch.

A common area designed for coexistence, learning, and creativity. Built using green construction techniques, it combines the strength of bamboo with the freshness of palm leaves. Its open, organic design makes it the ideal place for workshops, meetings, and group activities, offering a welcoming space that offering a welcoming space that invites inspiration and the exchange of knowledge.

Tiendita
The Tiendita, is our only straw bale structure, and is made with palm, bamboo, and finished in natural plaster. It is here that we sell various regional handcrafts, organic food, and healing products made at Tierra del Sol. The food products we sell are for basic consumption, like probiotic drinks and food products, snacks, ground coffee etc. There is a strong intention at the store to sell only the highest quality products made with the awareness to heal and nourish. We do not sell alcohol, and while drinking is not prohibited, it is mostly discouraged on the premises.

The village has it own shop, where you can buy organic products and fresh harvests from its gardens, offering healthy, high.quality food strainght from the fields.

Bioestanque
A wonderful little pond to come relax and refreshen yourself with a little swim. This sweet irrigation cistern filled with tilapia and oxygenating plants is a small biosphere example that self regulates itself so that we can water our garden with nutrient dense and oxygenating water.

A biodiversity sanctuary with self-sustaining habitats, where beauty and pace converge in harmony.

Hongo

This meeting space, inspired by the organic forms of nature, offers a cozy refuge in the middle of the landscape. Built with natural materials such as mud, wood and palm roof. Its circular design promotes interaction and the exchange of ideas. making it an ideal meeting point for talks, workshops and moments of rest.

Made of bamboo and palm, the Hongo is the primary classroom where we will meet daily to begin and discuss the days work.
